Known for creating abstracted landscape images in both B&W and psychedelic color, Syl Labrot worked in many aspects of photography and printmaking during his career, including a collaboration with Walter Chappell and Nathan Lyons, that produced the book 'Under the Sun' in 1960. His work is held in the collections of the National Gallery of Canada, MoMA, The Eastman Museum, the Art Institute of Chicago, and Visual Studies Workshop among others. Labrot had a long friendship with Nathan and Joan Lyons and taught at the workshop in the early 1970s. After his death in 1977 his archive was transferred to Visual Studies Workshop.
